Ayat ül-başair ve gayât üs-serair - آيات البشائر و غايات السرائر
- Scope & Content:
-
This volume contains poems, mainly ghazals, composed by Ruhi al-Mamluk, whose personal name, as it appears in the colophon, was Qaraca. It is also mentioned in the same place that the poet belonged to the Tarikatu''l-arbain, and this is borne out by his poetry, which is in an Oghuz dialect and contains no Kipchak elements.
This copy, which features a finely illuminated unvan, was produced in 886 AH (1481-82 CE) for the library of Mamluk Qa''it Bey (as seen on f 2r), to whom a kaside in letters of gold is addressed (ff 9v-10r).
