Diary by Sidney March of his journey from London to Shanghai, via the Trans-Siberian Railway, 28 February – 15 March, to take up a position with Jardine Matheson. With some ephemera and photographs.

- Typescript letter from Sidney March's daughter Ruth Courtenay to the collector Charles Benson, enclosing typescript biographical notes and some photographs, 20 September 1982.
- 4 black and white photographs (3 Chinese scenes – people and draft ox at work, canal boat, junk; 1 portrait, probably of Sidney March).
- 11 photographic negatives on 3 strips.
- Printed ephemera about the Trans-Siberian Railway, including a printed booklet - Illustrated Guide for the Use of Travellers to the Far-East by the Trans-Siberian Railway (International Sleeping Car Company, 1909), and brochure.
- Diary of journey, typed from instalments written en route and posted back to England. Loose-leaf, tied at the top with a green ribbon (33 folios).
- Leather portfolio, titled 'London to China', embossed with a Chinese dragon.
