This volume contains five mesneviler by Yahya Bey Dukakinzade of the Dukagjini family of Albania. He is believed to have died in 990 AH (1582-83 CE) according to OM II, p. 497, but Ali (Or 32, f 330), who is followed by Gibb (HOP III, p. 116), states that he died in 983 AH (1575-76 CE).The five texts are as follows:
ff 2v-56r : Şah u Geda, the story of the love of a learned and pious man for a beautiful youth;
ff 57v-197v : Yusuf ve Züleyha, a romantic poem;
ff 198v-287v : Kitab-i usul or Usulname, a book of precepts in 10 sections (makamlar), each of which inculcates some moral quality and is illustrated by anecdotes;
ff 228v-371v : Gencine-yi Raz, a poem in 40 makale on spiritual life. The poem begins with a section on the mystic sense of the Besmele;
ff 373v-452v : Gülşen-i envar, a religious poem on the various degress of holiness.
The manuscript is not dated, but it was likely copied in the late 17th century CE.
