- Title:
- Şerh-i Birgevi Konevi Ali Efendi - شرح بركوى قنوى على افندى
- Scope & Content:
-
This volume contains a commentary by Şeyh Ali Sadri el-Konevi on the Vasiyet(name), a well-known Sunni creed by Birgevi Mehmet Efendi (died 981 AH/1573-74 CE), which is sometimes called the Kitab-i Pir Ali Efendi or the Akaid-i Birgevi. The date of composition of the latter text (970 AH/1562-63 CE) appears at the end.
In the margin, there is a supercommentary on the work by Fazlı written in two diagonal columns. The latter occupies the whole of ff 39-106. After this, another work entitled Hulviyat continues in the margins. It consists of anecdotes of strange things taken from various sources.
This manuscript also contains two other works:
ff 169v-171v : Hilye-i Hakani, a poem descriptive of the personal appearance of the Prophet Muhammad صلعم by Hakani;
ff 172r-177r : An untitled and anonymous tract on the audible prayer of dervishes.
The manuscript has been incorrectly labelled as 'Barkavi. Sharh i Fatwa i Ali Efendi'.
The text contains a single unvan.
The manuscript was copied by Hafız İsmail hoca-yi mekteb fi Dergah-i Ali-yi Topçular kışlağ in 1237 AH (1821-22 CE).
