Nigaristan - نگارستان
- Scope & Content:

This volume contains the Ottoman Turkish translation of the Nigāristān of Qāẓī Aḥmad Ghaffārī. The manuscript has lost one or more leaves at the beginning, and the name of the translator does not appear, although it can be found in Or 7337 as İbn-i Mehmet Ahmet. This version starts at a point corresponding to the second page of the original, Add MS 26 286 lines 3-4.
The translation keeps generally very close to the text. But the translator has sought to insert ideas that are more in line with his own mezhep by adding an account of the first three Hulufe (f 6r), and by leaving out some of the stories relating to the supernatural gifts of the Imams.
At the end of the work, the translator transfers to the Ottoman Sultans the author's panegyric on the Safevi sovereigns, and names Süleyman Han İbn-i Selim Han as the reigning Sultan. The translation must have therefore been written between 959 AH (1552 CE), the date of the original work, and the death of Sultan Süleyman in 974 AH (1566 CE).
The manuscript was copied by Yusuf İbn-i Derviş and completed on 23 Zulkade 1072 AH (10 July 1662 CE).
