This volume contains a description of the ten Derviş orders in the form of a series of dialogues between two allegorical characters named Hoca-i Cihan and Netice-i Can and the leaders of the various Derviş orders staying at their hostel in Madinah. The author of the text is Vahidi, whose name appears in a poem (f 9v). His name is given as Vahidi Abdülvahit Çelebi Karadavudzade of İstanbul in OM II, p. 475. At the end of the book (ff 207r-v), the author mentions the reigning Sultan (Süleyman I) and the date of the work's completion (929 AH/1522-23 CE).
The title Kitab-i tavaif-i aşere is written at the beginning of the manuscript, and the last folio is damaged.
Two copies of this work are described in an article by Abdülbaki Gölpınarlı, in which he asserts that the Nurü'l-hüda of Karakaşzade is an elaborated version of Vahidi's work, written in a "higher" Ottoman Turkish in order to conform to the literary taste of the end of the 16th century. In one copy, he says, the date of completion is given as 909 AH (1503-04 CE), which must be a mistake on the part of the copyist, as the dedication in the British Library's copy is to Süleyman I.
A different hand from that found in the rest of the manuscript copied the text on ff 41r-90v.
The manuscript was copied in the 16th century CE.
