- [Cevami' el-hikayat ve levami' el-rivayat] - [جوامع الحكايات و لوامع الروايات]
- Scope & Content:
-
This volume contains the well-known collection of anecdotes by ᶜAufī, translated into Ottoman Turkish by Salih İbn-i Celal in 957 AH (1550-51 CE) at the order of Prince Beyazit, son of Süleyman I (see f 304 v). This copy corresponds in text to Part 1, Chapter XI (Dar firāsat-i arbāb-i kiyāsat), according to the notes given in M. Nizamuddin’s Introduction to the Jawami’ u’l-hikayat, p. 161. The text, however, begins in the middle of the introduction.
A false unvan has been crudely painted over the first few lines on f 1v. The text ends with the last anecdote in Part I, Chapter 25 (Dar laṭāᵓif-i ḥikāyāt-i tīz-fahm va ẕikr-i ishān). This anecdote is number 592 in the current copy.
The manuscript was copied in 1029 AH (1619-20 CE) by Aḥmad al-Imām bi-maḥallati Kātib Qāsim min maḥallāt al-Qusṭanṭiniyah.
