- Title:
- Süleymanname - سليماننامه
- Scope & Content:
-
This volume contains the sixth part of this folk narrative, in prose intermixed with verse, by Uzun Firdevs or Firdevs-i Tavl.
The present manuscript lacks at least one folio at the beginning. According to Mundy's notes, it begins in meclis 26 and ends with meclis 98. The hero Sam plays a prominent part in these episodes. Mundy observes that two other copies of Süleymān-nāmẹ in his library contain the same episodes, affording an excellent opportunity for comparison. The present manuscript appears to be independent of the other two, being briefer and less detailed while containing more verses.
The manuscript contains a short colophon on f 103v and was likely copied in the 18th century CE.
