Usul el-hikem fi nizam el-alem - اصول الحكم في نظام العالم

Scope & Content:

This volume contains an Arabic treatise on principles of government written for Sultan Mehmet III, with a paraphrase in Ottoman Turkish. The author, Kafi Hasan Efendi el-Ahısari (died 1025 AH/1616 CE) completed the work in 1004 AH (1596 CE) and the Ottoman Turkish version the following year. Another translation of the book was made by Kerimzade İffeti in 1146 AH (1733-34 CE). There exist two other Ottoman Turkish works bearing the same name by Hasanbeyzade Ahmet Bey and İbrahim Müteferrika.

The text contains a single illuminated unvan on f 1v. Otherwise, the work has suffered considerable damage in the lower margin of each folio, primarily from worms. The text is still legible, however.

The manuscript was copied in 1245 AH (1829-30 CE).
