Custodial history: The documents have been produced by the high school based on their educational activities.
Author(s)/Creator(s): The Gabriela Mistral high school in La Serena was founded in 1883 as the first secondary school for girls in the city, driven by the interest of the community in opening educational spaces for women in the area. In its beginnings it was located in the Plaza de Armas but in 1950 it occupied its current building, declared MN, built by the government with the highest quality infrastructure. The lyceum owes its name to the illustrious Chilean poet and Nobel Prize winner for Literature, Gabriela Mistra, who served as inspector and secretary. Since 2016, it has been transformed into a mixed establishment, dedicated to serving mostly vulnerable students, coming from homes of urban workers and urban workers.
Arrangement: Between 2017 and 2018, a project made by the School Archives Program and the Heritage, Archive and Memory Team (EPAM) of the University of La Serena, prepared a documentary cadastre of the liceo´s archive in which series were provisionally identified. Currently there is no classification scheme.
