Blockprint. Printing frame 205 x 162 mm. (average). Single-line borders. Single fishtail design on hanshin.
Kanbun text, with printed kundoku, kunten and kutōten. 6 lines to page (large characters), 12 lines (smaller characters, 14 characters to line.
Brown and white banded front cover of satsu 上 only, contemporary with date of printing (late-18th century ?), with printed title slip bearing gedai: Kōsei hyōetsu (tsunogaki) Jindai no maki 校正評閲 (角書) 神代巻. Title from naidai, printed with kundoku: 日本書紀 (ヤマトフミ) ･･･ 神代上 (カミヨノカンノマキ). Hashiragaki: 日本書紀 神代巻 上 (下) + folio no. In a western style half-leather binding.
Edition: Sixth blockprinted edition of Jindai no maki alone, following seihan editions dated Kanbun 7 (1667), Kanbun 9 (1669), Kanbun 12 (1672), Enpō 4 (1676) and Enpō 7 (1679). Although the present copy was printed from the original blocks of Genroku 8 (1695), publisher's advertisements of Izumoji Shōhakudō 出雲寺松栢堂 at end of both maki indicate a printing not earlier than mid- to late-18th century.
Contents: Plain text of Nihon shoki, Jindai no maki (maki 上 and 下), without commentary, but with batsu by Kiyohara Kunikata.
