- Scope & Content:
- Collection of 50 black and white photographs collected by Alfred Sercombe Griffin during his time as a locum pharmacist in Burma between 1906-08. The glass slides are encased in a wooden box with iron clasps. "Burma: The Road to China: The Land of Pagodas and Paddy." and "50 slides" pencilled on the cover. "Burma" pencilled on the side. "The Land of Paddy and Pagodas", "A. Sercombe Griffin" and "Wingaba" pencilled on the bottom. Contents of the slides are recorded on a paper slip attached to the inside of the cover. "Burma: The Road to China.", "Formerly known as: 'The Land of Pagodas and Paddy' on which I lectured 33 times." Places and dates recorded with felt pen on the inside edges of the cover, starting with 1910 and ending with 1941. Box also includes lecture notes "Burma - The Road to China. Introduction to Lantern Lecture.", 4 pp. (one sided), 255 mm x 205 mm.
