Imprint: [Edo] , Suharaya Mohē, n.d. [Enpō-Genroku period, c. 1680-90] . Kanki on fol. 43b reads: 繪師菱河師宣筆 / 江府 書林・・・ 須原屋茂兵衛梓.
Description: 1 kan (of 3), 1 satsu, in a box. Incomplete copy, maki 下 only, ff. 29-43. 27.1 x 18.1 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 22.5 x 16.7 cm. Single-line borders round text, double-line ornamental frame round illustrations. No fishtail design on hanshin.
Hiragana-majiri text. 20 lines to page, variable no. of characters to line.
Original mid-blue covers. Title slip missing. No gedai or naidai. Hashiragaki: Wakashū 和歌集 巻ノ下 + folio no.
Edition: The first edition to contain illustrations. Preceded by a movable type edition in Kan'ei 10 (1633) and three blockprinted editions dated Kan'ei 13 (1636), Keian 1 (1648) and Kanbun 8 (1668). Copy in Ryerson Library is dated Enpō 8 (1680) and published by Shōkai 松會.
Contents: Commentary by the poet Sōgi, written in Bunmei 16 文明十六年 (1484), on the poetical anthology Jisanka 自讃歌 which was composed of waka poems from various classical anthologies of the past.
