Author/compiler: Ishikawa Ryūsen 石川流宣, ilustrator and possibly also author of text-matter, fl. late-17th century.
Imprint: [Edo] , Izutsuya San'emon, n.d. [c. Genroku period, 1688-1704] . Kanki on fol. 13b of final maki reads: 書畫筆工 / 大和繪師 / 石河流宣圖 / 板本 / 通油町 / 井筒屋三右衛門.
Description: 4 kan, formerly in 4 satsu, rebound in 1 vol. western style. (Maki 1 - 春) ff. 15; (2 - 夏) ff. 16; (3 - 秋) ff. 13; (4 - 冬) ff. 13. 26.2 x 18.4 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 22.6 x 16.6 cm. (average). Single-line borders and single horizontal rule separating text from illustrations. No fishtail design on hanshin.
Hiragana-majiri text with printed furigana. 15 lines to page, 6 characters to line.
Original brick-red front cover of first maki only. Centrally placed title slip with manuscript gedai: Yamato kōsaku eshō 大和耕作繪抄 春. No naidai; title from Kokusho sōmokuroku 国書総目録. Hashiragaki: Ehon shun えほん 春 (ka 夏, shū 秋, tō 冬) + folio no. In a western style half-leather binding.
Edition: This undated edition, almost certainly of Genroku 元禄 period, is the only one recorded. 1-page preface and batsu are both unsigned and undated.
Contents: This is primarily a picture book, profusely illustrated on every page, but with brief descriptive text in the upper quarter of each page, arranged under headings for the four seasons.

Condition: Fair. No worm damage, but many folios soiled and rubbed.
Impression: Clear and sharp, but from slightly worn blocks.
Illustrations: Double-page sumizuri illustrations in ukiyoe style on every pair of facing folios (mihiraki 見開). Subjects of pictures deal not only with agriculture but with festivals, annual events and all aspects of country and town life. Style strongly influenced by that of Moronobu, who was Ryūsen's teacher.
