Incomplete copy or abridged version of this work, comprising (1) Minamidani 南谷, maki 7 according to Nihon koten bungaku daijiten 日本古典文学大辞典; (2) Honchūin 本中院 and Odawara 小田原, maki 4, Nihon koten bungaku daijiten 日本古典文学大辞典; (3) Jison'in 慈尊院, maki 10, Nihon koten bungaku daijiten 日本古典文学大辞典; (4) Tanigami 谷上, maki 6, Nihon koten bungaku daijiten 日本古典文学大辞典. Foliation: (1) ff. 1 (目録), 2 (illus.), 23; (2) ff. 1 (目録), 2 (illus.), 13 (本中院), 1 (目録), 3 (illus.), 41 (小田原) ; (3) ff. 2 (目録), 3 (illus.), 22; (4) ff. 1 (目録), 3 (illus.), 15-38. 26.3 x 18.1 cm. Blockprint. Printing frame 21.2 x 16.3 cm. (average). Single-line borders. White fishtail design on hanshin.
Hiragana-majiri text, with printed furigana and kutōten. 11 lines to page, variable no. of characters to line.
Renewed dark green front cover of first satsu only, with embossed floral pattern. Renewed title slip with manuscript gedai: Tsūnenshū 通念集. Title from naidai. Hashiragaki: [short title of each maki in 1 characters (maki are unnumbered) ] + folio no. In a western style half-leather binding.
Edition: The complete work (of which this is part) has no kanki, but preface is dated Kanbun 12 寛文十二年 (1672) and the work may well have been published in Enpō 1 延宝元年 (1673). No other pre-modern edition is recorded.
Contents: A work of local history and topography dealing with Kōyasan, stories and legends associated with its history, and touching on Shingon beliefs.

Condition: Generally good, apart from worm damage in places.
Impression: For the most part sharp and clear, but blocks show some signs of wear.
Illustrations: A total of 13 folios of sumizuri woodcuts depicting the topography and monastery buildings of Kōyasan, as noted under Description above.
Seals of ownership: Circular red seal, Risshū shoko 立習書庫, on first page of each former satsu.
