- Title:
- [Divan-i Şemsi] - [ديوان شمسى]
- Scope & Content:
-
This volume contains the Divan of Şemsi (Ahmet Şemsi Paşa, died 988 AH/1580 CE).
The Divan begins with a na't, followed by kasideler ending on f 9r, which begin with a kaside in praise of Sultan Kanuni Süleyman (Süleyman I). The gazeller then occupy the following folios (ff 9v-81v), after which the remaining poems in this volume are 4 tahmisler on gazeller of Muhibbi (Süleyman I), 4 muhammes, 7 murabba (ff 88r-91v), and some kıt'alar and rubaiyat (ff 91v-92v).
The text contains two unvans.
The manuscript was copied at İstanbul by Cevri Çelebi, a famous calligrapher. No date is given, but we do know that İbrahim Çelebi died in 1065 AH (1654-55 CE), making this the latest that the copy could have been produced.
