Pustaha. Containing: a 2-22, b 2-12: Poda ni ari rojang, on the lunar mansions. Used in Voorhoeve, 1975, BAT. 48. Romanization by van der Tuuk in Leiden Or 3401, pp. 67-70. b 12-22: Poda ni pormamisan holing, on the five periods of the day. Copied by van der Tuuk in Leiden Or 3395, pp. 145-7, and from this by Millies (now Heidelberg UB Trübner 97; see Manik, 1973, no. 340). There is a photograph of this MS in Diringer, 1968, vol. ii, p. 297. In 1848 van der Tuuk examined MSS Batak 1-6 and wrote ‘A short account of the Batta manuscripts belonging to the Library of the East India Company', the autograph of which is in IOL; a preliminary draft (with the titles in Batak) is in Leiden Or 3395, pp. 135-40. The translations in the ‘Short account' are, of course, imperfect, given the state of knowledge of Batak at that time.
