- Signed autograph letter from English author Daphne Du Maurier (1907-1989) addressed to ‘Sgt. Arnold’, (Sargent Tony Arnold R.A.F), Prisoner of War (PoW), Dated Oct 25 1942. With envelope addressed to ‘Sgt. 23590 Tony Arnold. R.A.F / Stammlager Luft 3. / Deutschland’. Showing German postmarks. In response to a previous letter sent to Du Maurier by Sgt. Arnold. Du Maurier notes that she has never been written to by a PoW before. She continues to explain that she is in the process of writing Hungry Hill, which would be published in 1943. She also discusses her home life, birds, books, specifically Dickens and Shakespeare, and the films of Rebecca and Frenchman’s Creek, for which she expresses a desire for Lawrence Olivier and Vivien Leigh to be cast.
