Imprint: N.p., n.d. [c. Kan'ei period, 1624-44] . Handwritten shikigo on endpaper of back cover reading 慶長元歳丙申閏七月廿一日 is in a late-Edo period hand and does not relate to the date of printing. It was probably written in imitation of an early imprint.
Description: 1 kan, 1 satsu, rebound in western style. ff. [16] , unnumbered. 26.4 x 19.5 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 21.7 x 17.8 cm. No borders, vertical rules or printed hanshin.
Hiragana-majiri text, with furigana, dakuten and kutōten. 12 lines to page, 19-21 characters to line.
Original dark brown covers, front and back, within western style half-leather binding.
Original pale-blue blockprinted title slip on left. Gedai: Shucharon 酒茶論 in gyōsho. No naidai.
Edition: The only edition printed during the Edo period.
Contents: An otogi-zōshi tale, probably written in late-Tenshō or early Keichō period (c. 1580-1600), about a conflict between factions supporting the relative merits of wine and tea.

Condition: Good, apart from slight water staining and worming. Margins, and also covers, cropped at top and bottom, probably long before rebinding.
Impression: Not shozuri, but little evidence of worn blocks.
