15 loose drawings, 11 of which are stored together in one folder, catalogued as Add MS 5023. Items 1, 2, 6 and 14 from Add MS 5023 are rolls and are stored separately and catalogued as Add MS 5023/1, Add MS 5023/2, Add MS 5023/6 and Add MS 5023/14.
The drawings in this folder all differ in size and subject matter, although some are related. Summary description of contents:
3. India ink and wash drawing of a canoe with oars and sails. Dimensions: 380 x 240 mm.
4. Pen and ink drawing of the section of a ship, described in an inscription on the drawing as 'Ptolemy Philopater's galley'. Dimensions: 605 x 445 mm.
4*. A volvelle to make arithmetical calculations, calculate the golden ratio and extract the square root. There are inscriptions in Greek around the border and in Latin at the centre of the volvelle. Dimensions: 310 mm (diameter).
5. An unfinished map outlined in ink with the cardinal directions inscribed in French. Dimensions: 420 x 310 mm.
7. Pen and ink drawing of a male nude in profile facing left, represented thrice in the act of walking. Dimensions: 375 x 535 mm.
8. Pen and ink and wash drawing of the bones of the human arm, with stipple curvilinear lines and lettering emphasising the articulation of movement in the limb. Dimensions: 400 x 565 mm.
9. Pen and ink and wash drawing of two male figures in frontal view, with emphasis on the musculature. Dimensions: 425 x 310 mm.
10. Pen and ink drawing of a geometrical figure. Dimensions: 580 x 385 mm.
11. Perspective diagrams and six drawings of planets. Dimensions: 540 x 355 mm.
12. Pen and ink and wash drawing illustrating the theory of echo, similar to an engraving with the same subject in Athanasius Kircher's Musurgia Universalis (Rome,1650). Dimensions: 365 x 570 mm.
13. View in perspective of a colonnade with two large obelisks. Dimensions: 390 x 535 mm.

Part of this description has been transcribed from the handwritten Catalogue of Additional Manuscripts, vol. 20 (1831), located in the Manuscripts Reading Room, where the volume is described as: 'A large folio, containing miscellaneous drawings of ships, human figures, &c. viz.'
