(Maki 1 上) ff. 1-5 (序), 6-7a (自序), 7b-10 (目録), 1-20 (本文) ; (maki 1 下) ff. 27; (maki 3) ff. 1, 52; (maki 4) ff. 1, 36; (5) ff. 1, 24; (6) ff. 1, 15; (7) ff. 36; (8) ff. 35; (9) ff. 76; (10) ff. 1, 45; (11) ff. 1, 73; (12) ff. 1, 82; (13) ff. 44; (14) ff. 1, 62; (15) ff. 1, 35; (16) ff. 1, 29; (17) ff. 1, 32, [3] (batsu + okuzuke). 22.8 x 16 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 19 x 13.9 cm. (average). Single-line borders. Single fishtail design on hanshin.
Chiefly katakana-majiri text, interspersed with passages in kanbun and hiragana-majiri. 11 lines to page, 18-20 characters to line.
Original buff covers, with original printed title slips on left and additional square slips, centrally placed, with printed contents of each maki. Gedai: 攝陽群談. Title from gedai and naidai at head of each maki. Hashiragaki: 摂陽群談 + maki no. + folio no.
Edition: First edition).
Contents: An account, drawn from various sources, of the history, topography and products of Settsu 攝津 province. First preface, printed in large semi-cursive script, signed by Kikuchi Shinzaburō 菊池新三郎. Second preface written and signed by the compiler. Batsu dated Genroku 14 (1701) on two unnumbered folios following fol. 32 of maki 17.

Condition: Generally good. Worm damage in several maki and soiled folios in mak 1.
Impression: Sharp and clear, shozuri or near.
Illustrations: A few single-page sumizuri woodcuts scattered through the work, but only in maki 3-9. Artist, according to colophon, Ueki Shōzō 植木庄藏.
Seals of ownership: Oblong red seal, printed inkoku, Kidō bunko 鬼洞文庫, on first page of all maki except no. 1. Square red seal (unidentified) on first page of all maki except no. 17. Also, square black stamp, Nakagawa 中川, on all first pages.
