Edition: According to Kokusho sōmokuroku 国書総目録 and to Kinsei kanpō igakusho shūsei 近世漢方医学書集成, vol. 6, p. 22, the first edition was printed from movable type and published in Keichō 12 (1607). There is convincing evidence that this is incorrect. Dated copies in Seikidō Bunko and Kyōdai (Fujikawa Bunko) indicate that the earliest surviving edition is the one with kanki dated Kan'ei 4 寛永四年 (1627), and that a movable type edition of Keichō or Genna period may never have existed. The present copy almost certainly belongs to the Kan'ei 4 (1627) edition, although it lacks that part of folio 45b which might have shown the Kan'ei 4 kanki. This part appears to have been erased from the block, perhaps deliberately in order to give the impression that the book belongs to an earlier edition published in Keichō 12 (1607).
Contents: An account of Japanese medicine during the Tenshō period (1573-92), with details of diagnoses made and prescriptions used by Manase Gensaku between Tenshō and Keichō periods.
