Maps of locations in the Netherlands where the army of Stadtholder Frederick Henry have been stationed
- Scope & Content:
- Fifteen maps picturing locations in the Netherlands where the army of Stadtholder Frederick Henry (1584-1647) have been stationed. The maps are signed by Balthasar Florisz. van Berckenrode, a Dutch draughtsman who specialised in cartography. The maps are all executed in brown ink and watercolour directly on to the folios of the manuscript. Place names are inscribed in Dutch and are of locations in the present-day Netherlands, chiefly near the border with Belgium. All maps feature a scale of distance, the date of execution of the drawing and the signature of its maker.
