- Title:
- Khawāṣṣ al-adʿiyah - خواص الادعية
- Scope & Content:
-
This volume contains a small collection of Arabic prayers and litanies, divided into sections, some of which are preceded by brief introductions in Ottoman Turkish. Khawāṣṣ al-adʿiyah appears to have been compiled for the Ottoman Sultan Mustafa III. The present manuscript, which appears to be unique, was undoubtedly illuminated for him.
Notable features of the manuscript include the following: illuminated round medallion with the names Allah, Abū Bakr, ᶜUthmān, ᶜAlī, Ḥasan, and Ḥusayn, said to protect anyone who contemplates it at dawn (f 1v); similar medallions with an inscription saying that the manuscript was produced for Sultan Mustafa İbn-i Sultan Ahmet and contains efficacious prayers and Aḥādīth (ff 2r-3r); a general introduction concerning dua (ff 3v-5v).
The text also contains an illuminated unvan on f 3v.
This manuscript was copied in evahir-i Muharrem 1183 AH (May-June 1769 CE) by İsmail el-Bağdadi.
