- Title:
- [Sharḥ al-farāʾiḍ al-sirājīyah] - [شرح الفرائض السراجية]
- Scope & Content:
-
This volume contains an Ottoman Turkish translation and commentary, without the name of the author provided and with no title, of al-Farāʾiḍ al-sirājīyah, the well-known Arabic work on the law of inheritance according to the Hanefi mezhep. The author of the original Arabic text was Sirāj al-Dīn Abū Ṭāhir Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Sajāwandī.
The language of the translation and commentary contains a number of orthographic features characteristic of Old Anatolian Turkish. This is different from the verse Ottoman Turkish translation composed by Tursunzade Efendi.
Other contents of the volume include various inscriptions, including by the reader Kadı Sinan İbn-i Nasuh, dated 993 AH (1585-86 CE); vakıf inscriptions; and a prayer formula in Arabic accompanied by the times for reading the Qur'an during the week (in Ottoman Turkish).
This manuscript is undated, but was likely copied in the mid- to late-15th century CE.
