Imprint: Kyōto, Yamatoya Ihē, Genroku 8, 1695. Kanki on fol. 25b of maki 4 reads: 元禄八乙亥年正月日 ／ 京二條通 ／ 大和屋伊兵衛寫板.
Description: 4 kan, formerly in 4 satsu, rebound in 1 vol. western style. (Maki 1) ff. 2 (序), 2 (序), 2 (map), 22; (maki 2) ff. 26; (3) ff. 25; (4) ff. 25. 24.8 x 18.3 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 20.5 x 16.8 cm. (average). Double-line borders. Single fishtail design on hanshin.
Kanbun text, with printed okurigana and kaeriten. 10 lines to page, 20 characters to line.
Original (?) dark blue front cover of satsu 1 only, with original printed title slip. Gedai: Chōsen (tsunogaki) chōhiroku 朝鮮 (角書) 懲毖錄. Title from naidai at head of each maki.
Hashiragaki: Chōhiroku 懲毖錄 + maki no. + folio no. In a modern western style half-leather binding.
Edition: Apparently the only known edition of this work published in Japan. Although the original blocks of Genroku 8 (1695) were used for printing the present copy, publisher's advertisements of Izumoji Shōhakudō 出雲寺松栢堂 are inserted at the end of each maki, indicating that this impression dates from the 18th century at the earliest.
Contents: An account, from the Korean viewpoint, of the Japanese invasions of Korea from c. 1585 to 1598, emphasising the sufferings inflicted on the Korean people. First preface by the Japanese editor, Kaibara Atsunobu (Ekiken) 貝原篤信 (益軒), dated Genroku 8 (1695).
