This volume contains the first part of a tafsīr, starting at the Sūrat al-Fātiḥah (1:1) and going to the end of the Sūrat al-Anˁām (6:165), with an introduction to the text based on sources from the Ḥadīth. The colophon of the manuscript, found on f. 159v, lists the copyist of the work as Yūsuf ibn ˁalī ibn ˁabd al-Raḥmān ibn Aḥmad ibn Ṣāliḥ ibn Yaḥyá ibn Ḥamīd (?) ibn Yaˁqūb also known as (?) ibn Mashīshī, from the Tamazight-speaking village of al-Sidwīkishī, resident in the town of Jerba. It was produced in the Maghribi style of calligraphy and completed on Sunday, 6 Dhū al-Qaˁdah 1087 AH (10 January 1677 CE).
