- Title:
- Plans of the copper mine of Stora Kopparberg in Sweden
- Scope & Content:
- Plans of the 'Stora Kopparberg', the great copper mine of Kopparberg in Sweden, dated 1709, with inscriptions in Swedish. Inscribed within a cartouche on f.1 is the title "Charta ofwer Stora Koppar-bergs Grufwa A.o 1709". The drawings are executed on paper, directly on the folios of the manuscript. Parts of each folio have been cut out to reveal the underlying drawings as individual layers. They show the underground levels of the mine and provide a sense of its depth in a three-dimensional way. There is a scale for the depth of the mine expressed in Swedish fathoms. A similar set of plans of a Swedish mine is in Add MS 5020.
