Author/compiler: Uncertain, but formerly attributed to Huang Jian 黄堅.
Imprint: N.p., Kan'ei 1, 1624. Kanki on last folio verso of maki 10 reads: 寛永元甲子年孟夏上旬開板[印].
Description: 10 kan, formerly in 2 satsu, now rebound in 1 vol. western style. Text of maki 1 preceded by a 2-folio preface (叙) and a 3-folio mokuroku. 33.2 x 22.2 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 23.3 x 16.4 cm. (average). Double-line borders all round. Fishtail design on hanshin with 'flower petal' pattern on some folios, not on others.
Kanbun text, without printed kunten or reading marks. 9 lines to page (double for commentary), 18 characters to line.
Dark brown front cover of satsu 1 only, old but probably not origial, with renewed title slip. Manuscript gedai (mid-Edo period) reads: 羅山講本古文後集上. Title from naidai at head of each maki. Title at head of mokuroku: Shoju senkai kobun shinpō kōshū 諸儒箋解古文眞寶後集. Hashiragaki: Kobun shinpō 古文眞寶 + maki no.+folio no. In a western style half-leather binding.
Edition: Blockprint closely modelled on a movable type edition of Genna period. The blocks are engraved in skilful imitation of the original movable type, but this is undoubtedly a blockprint.
Contents: A selection of notable works of Chinese poetry and prose: poetry in the first series (前集) and prose in the second (後集). The former is a highly selective anthology of verse from Han to Song periods. Text of kōshū (prose) only.

Manuscript notes: Shikigo on last folio verso of maki 10, signed by Raisai 懶齋 (or Ransai) and dated Kan'ei 15 (1638), states that he has transcribed kunten and commentary by Hayashi Razan 林羅山 into the present copy. Shikigo reads as follows: 右之兩册朱墨羅山先生所嘗訓點而講説者也 余辛得侍其 / 席聞其説矣雖然性懶而多忘當時猶不能識什之一矧歳月 / 久彌失其義改記其所聞於各文之上以便観覧丐始於孟 / 春上旬終於季春今日只恐師説謬矣 / 寛永十五年歳次戊寅三月十二日 懶齋謹誌. Raisai's statement is confirmed by the copious textual notes in margins surrounding text, supplemented by commentary on separate sheets inserted throughout the book, all written in the same hand as the shikigo. Okurigana and kaeriten in black, and shubiki and kutōten in red, added to both text and commentary.
