Author/compiler: Jūshin 住信, Buddhist monk, also known as Gukan 愚勸.
Imprint: [Kyōto] , Uemura Jirōemon, Jōō 2, 1653. Mokki on fol. 43b of maki 9 reads: 承應貳年癸巳卯月吉辰 / 上村次郎右衛門開板.
Description: 2 kan (maki 8 and 9 only) of 9 kan, formerly in 2 satsu, now rebound in 1 vol. western style. (Maki 8) ff. 35; (maki 9) ff. 43. 24.7 x 19 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 22.1 x 16.4 cm. (average). Double-line borders. Fishtail design on hanshin.
Katakana-majiri text with printed furigana, and some passages in kanbun with printed okurigana and kaeriten.
Renewed front cover of maki 8 only, with embossed floral pattern. Renewed title slip on left, with manuscript gedai: 私聚百因緣集 八. Title from naidai at head of each maki.
Hashiragaki: Hyaku innen 百因緣 + maki no.+folio no. In a western style half-leather binding.
Edition: The only recorded pre-modern edition.
Contents: Selected passages from the writings of Chinese, Japanese and Indian monks on the doctrine of causes and effects, with connecting narrative by Jūshin. Batsu on last page indicates that the work was completed in Shōka 1 正嘉元年, 1257. The present copy, comprising maki 8 and 9, deals with Japanese Buddhist writings.

Manuscript notes: Note in black ink on a square slip pasted on mikaeshi of front cover, dated Enkyō 5 延享五年 (1748), gives brief details of the life of the compiler, Jūshin 住信, and the composition of this work.
