- Title:
- [Ottoman astrology manual]
- Scope & Content:
-
This volume contains a popular manual of astrology that is defective at the beginning and the end. It contains 12 full-page illustrations of the signs of the Zodiac. Each sign is provided with a short descriptive text that mentions the prognostics to be derived from it.
On the last folio is the date 'Year 957' (1550 CE). This could have been taken from the missing last folio and may thus be the correct date of transcription. In any event, the manuscript does not appear to have been copied and illustrated later than the first half of the 17th century CE.
