- Title:
- [Behcetü'l-fetava] - [بهجة الفتاوى]
- Scope & Content:
-
This volume contains a collection of fetava by Ebü'l-Fazl Abdullah el-Yenişehirli, who was Şeyh-ül-İslam from 1130 AH (1717-18 CE) until 1143 AH (1730-31 CE). He issued a fetva permitting works on subjects other than fıkıh to be printed. His death occurred at Kanlıca in 1155 AH (1742-43 CE) or 1156 AH (1743-44 CE).
According to the listing of Ebü'l-Fazl's found manuscripts of fetava found in Karatay, the current manuscript is contemporary with the earliest work housed in Turkey, known as the Fetava-yi Abdullah Efendi.
There are copious marginal notes written by the same hand as the text, to which some additions were subsequently made. A number of fetava have been added on f 233v at a later date.
The text contains an illuminated unvan on f 9v, which follows on from a table of contents (ff 3v-8r).
Damage from worming can be seen at the corner of the folios on ff 1-53.
This manuscript was copied by İbrahim el-Kırımi in 1152 AH (1739-40 CE).
