Imprint: [Kyōtol, Tawara Nizaemonnojō, Kanbun 5, 1665. Kanki on fol. 30b of maki 下 reads: 寛文五乙巳年重陽吉旦 ／ 一條鶴屋町田原二左衛門尉梓行.
Description: 2 kan, formerly in 2 satsu, now rebound in 1 vol. western style. (Maki 上) ff. 34; (maki 下) ff. 30. 27.8 x 18.5 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 21.4 x 15.3 cm. Double-line borders all round. No fishtail design on hanshin.
Kanbun text with printed okurigana and kaeriten. 10 lines to page, 19-20 characters to line.
Original covers missing, but original printed title slip has been retained, pasted on outer endpaper preceding first page of maki 上. Gedai reads: 支那撰述 (tsunogaki in a roundel) 金剛經疏論纂要. Title from naidai at head of each maki. Hashiragaki: Shina senjutsu 支那撰述 kongōkyō shoron san'yō jō (ge) 金剛經疏論纂要上 (下) + folio no. + 農二 (三). In a western style half-cloth binding.
Edition: The first and apparently only pre-modern edition of this work. The tsunogaki Shina senjutsu 支那撰述 at head of title on daisen of this work suggests that it was published as part of a series of commentaries on Chinese Buddhist works.
Contents: Commentary by the Tang monk Zongmi 宗密 on the Kongō hannya haramitsukyō 金剛般若波羅蜜經 (Diamond Sutra, Skt. Vajracchedikā-prajñāpāramitā-sūtra), revised by the Song monk Zixuan 子璿. One of the six leading commentaries on this sutra, drawing on the work of other commentators.
