Description: 2 kan, formerly in 2 satsu, now rebound in 1 vol. western style. (Maki 上) ff. 34; (maki 下) ff. 30. 27.8 x 18.5 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 21.4 x 15.3 cm. Double-line borders all round. No fishtail design on hanshin.
Kanbun text with printed okurigana and kaeriten. 10 lines to page, 19-20 characters to line.
Renewed light blue front covers of maki 上 and 下, with embossed floral design. Renewed title slips with manuscript gedai: 金剛般若經疏論纂要. In a western style half-leather binding.
Edition: Although this copy bears the same kanki as 16006.b.26, close examination reveals unmistakable differences in hanshiki and shape of characters between the two. Evidently one is a fukkoku printed from re-cut blocks and repeating the original kanki, but it is impossible on available evidence to judge which is which.
Contents: Commentary by the Tang monk Zongmi 宗密 on the Kongō hannya haramitsukyō 金剛般若波羅蜜經 (Diamond Sutra, Skt. Vajracchedikā-prajñāpāramitā-sūtra), revised by the Song monk Zixuan 子璿. One of the six leading commentaries on this sutra, drawing on the work of other commentators.
