(Illustrated folios are additional to the above, repeating the same number as the previous folio preceded by mata 又.) 26.3 x 19.4 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 21.5-22.2 x 18.1 cm. (average). Single-line borders. No fishtail design on hanshin.
Hiragana-majiri text, with printed furigana, dakuten and kutōten. 14 lines to page, variable no. of characters to line.
Original dark blue front and back covers of each former satsu, with original printed title slips on left. Gedai: Enkō daishi go-denki 圓光大師御傳記. Title from naidai at head of each maki. Hashiragaki: [no title] , dai 1 (etc.) 第一 (二, 等) + folio no. In a modern western style half-leather binding.
Contents: A popular illustrated biography of Genkū 源空, also known as Enkō Daishi and Hōnen Shōnin 法然上人, founder of the Jōdo sect of Buddhism, 1133-1212.

Condition: Generally good. No worm damage, but some folios soiled and stained.
Impression: Atozuri, from badly worn blocks.
llustrations: A total of 96 single-page sumizuri woodcuts depicting scenes from the life of Genkū 源空 (=Enkō Daishi). Each illustrated folio has a woodcut on both sides of the leaf.
Seals of ownership: None, but a kashihon'ya stamp appears on mikaeshi and back endpaper of each satsu.
