Imprint: N.p., Kanbun 9, 1669. Oku on last page reads: 寛文巳♪ (ママ) 酉夏五月日 ／ 沙門澄禪 悔焉.
Description: 2 kan, 1 satsu, rebound in western style. ff. 7, 14. 25.9 x 18.4 cm. Fukurotoji.
Blockprint. Printing frame 19.5 x 14.9 cm. Single-line borders. No fishtail design on hanshin.
Kanbun text, including some siddham characters, with printed okurigana and kaeriten. 7 lines to page, 17 characters to line.
Original dark blue covers with printed title slip. Gedai: 悉曇字母表並釋義. Naidai of first section (巻頭) ff. 1-7: Ichigyō zenji jimohyō 一行禪師字母表; of second section ff. 1-14: Bonji shittan jimo narabini shakugi 梵字悉曇字母並釋義. Hashiragaki: (1) Jimohyō 字母表; (2) Jimoshaku 字母釋 + folio no. In a western style half-leather binding.
Edition: Apart from an early Kōya-ban, printed at the Kongōbuji in Shōhei 7 (1352), this edition of Kanbun 9 (1669) appears to be the only pre-Meiji edition.
Contents: An analysis of siddham (bonji 梵字) characters by the monk Yixing 一行 of the Tang period, followed by an exposition by Kūkai 空海.
