Materials: Manuscript wrapper handcrafted by interlacing naturally dyed cotton yarns, colourful chintz, and solid yellow silk with bamboo slats. The vibrant chintz is thought to have been imported from India. Bright yellow silk was used to neatly cover the top and bottom edges. Inside, there is a sewn-on piece of light brown hand-woven cotton on both sides to help cover and protect the manuscript while wrapped in this cloth. The alternating weaving of yarn and pieces of cloth with bamboo is a popular technique found across mainland Southeast Asia to increase the stability of the manuscript wrapper. Possibly 19th century.
