This volume contains a legal treatise by Mustafa ibn-i Şeyh Mehmed (died 1097 AH/1685 CE) intended to guide judges and magistrates in drawing up legal documents such as deeds, contracts, and rulings. The author mentions in his preface that he had thirty years’ experience in the law courts of Rumelia.
The treatise is arranged in twelve bablar, each comprising between one and four fasıllar. The matters covered are chiefly family, property, or commercial. There is a table of contents between ff 1v-2r, and the text begins on f 3v.
The present manuscript may possibly be the original holograph. When it was acquired, the spine bore a label lettered Tercüme-i ṣükuk, which may represent an alternative title for the treatise. Other contents include a model document on f 250r, containing the date 1125 AH/1713-14 CE and two numerical diagrams on f 259r.
The manuscript has no colophon but probably dates from the 11th century AH/17th century CE.
