This volume contains a rare treatise in Arabic on the jurisprudence of apportioning inheritances according to the Hanafi madhhab. A heading on the opening page states that the work was authored by a little known figure, Qirshahirlī Ali Riḍā’ Efendi (Turkish: Kırşehirli Ali Rıza Efendi).
The text comprises ten abwāb, sometimes subdivided into fuṣūl, neither of which are numbered. The abwāb are as follows:
Bab al-ma‘rifat al-furūḍ, f 4r
Bab al-aṣabāt, 12v
Bab al-ḥajb, 16r
Bab makhārij al-furūḍ, 17v
Bab al-‘iwal, 19r
Bab al-taṣḥīḥ,, 21v
Bab al-radd, 27r
Bab muqāsamat al-jadd, 30v
Bab al-munāsakha, 33v
Bab tawrīth dhawi’l-arḥām (consists of several fuṣūl), 35r-59r
There are diagrams illustrating the apportionment of legacies on 8r, 12v, 38r, 39v, 40r, and 42r. There are also some marginal annotations throughout the text.
The text is undated, but is from the 11th century AH/17th century CE. A note on the colophon has the date of early Dhu’l-qa`da 102[6?] AH/early November 1617 CE. However, this is more likely a note of ownership.
