This volume contains a treatise on the human soul and its faculties as microcosm in the form of a narrative of a journey of exploration. It was authored by, or at least is attributed to, the renowned Sufi theosopher Muḥyi’l-Din Ibn al-‘Arabī (died 638 AH/1240 CE). The text is accompanied by several diagrams representing objects of mystical vision.
According to the colophon on 8r, the text was copied by ‘Abd al-Raḥmān ibn Sayyid Muḥammad ibn Sayyid ‘Alī al-Saqqāf at the Great Mosque of Tarīm (in Hadramawt, Yemen) on 14 Dhu’l-Qa‘da 1004 AH (10 July 1596 CE).
