- Title:
- [Hatt risalesi] - [خط رسالەسی]
- Scope & Content:
-
This volume contains an Ottoman Turkish manual of nesih (Arabic naskh) calligraphy. It is an incomplete copy of the same text as that in Or 16400.
This version must originally have had a longer preface but now contains only about half of the work; the first folio is lacking and the text ends at the end of the section on the disjointed letter sad, which in Or 16400 is found about halfway down f 9v. The dots indicating units of proportion are written in red, and the illustrative letter forms in the margins are accompanied by brief notes. The text frames on f 1r (formerly 2r) are in worn gilt on green.
Begins:
(Ṣalla’llāh ta‘ālā ‘alayh wa sallam) Tıraşiden-i kalem ve şinahen (sic, perhaps for şinahten) evvela hüsn-i hatt yazanlara kalemin alasın ve kâğıdın zibasın görmek gerekdir kalemin alasın oldurur ki kızılı pek kızıl ve kılgıpek (sic) ak ola
Ends:
Ve sadın beyazı bir buçuk noktadir ve karnı sin karnı gibidir ve eğer zaviye-i keşideli edersen irsal [kavsı gibidir]
This text is undated, though it probably dates from the 12th or 13th century AH/18th or 19th century CE.
