- Scope & Content:
- Collection of Tibetan translation of canonical Indian Buddhist commentaries covering teachings of the Sutra and Tantra traditions. The blocks carved at the printing house of the sNar thang monastery in Central Tibet from 1741. The prints were probably produced during the 19th century but not later than 1904 when they brought from Tibet by Colonel L A Waddell.The prints were carefully printed on high quality paper. Miniatures on title pages were hand-coloured and ornamental silk "curtains" were also added. The loose leaves of the original volumes were bound in half leather upon arrival at the British Museum.
