- Title:
- Draft of Hakham Ezra Reuben Dangoor's commentary on the Pentateuch: Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy
- Scope & Content:
-
[1] Most of this manuscript consists of a draft of Hakham Ezra Reuben Dangoor's commentary on the Pentateuch (subsequently entitled 'Adi zahav), for most of the Pentateuch's last 4 books (Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy through the end of chapter 22), with substantial differences from the final manuscript version and printed edition. This notebook picks up from the draft on the book of Genesis, in manuscript Or 17030, item [2]. Bottom of folio 84b: addendum to commentary on Leviticus 21:28, from the weekly 'Hamagid' (year 16, no. 23: 11 June, 1872, p. 274).
[2] Folio 85b contains a continuation of Hakham Dangoor's draft Judeo-Arabic translation of the Pentateuch, picking up from where he left off in item [3] of manuscript Or 17030. The text here covers only Exodus chapter 12, verse 21 - mid verse 46. Relevant note on folio 87b ('I have not yet translated from Leviticus to the end of the Pentateuch ...').
[3] Remnants of communal / charity accounts on folios 86b, 88b, and on remnant stubs of removed pages.
