Autograph poem (in ink) titled 'A Song of the Sea' (title in pencil, perhaps in another hand). Initialled 'J.R.' Twenty-seven lines of verse in three stanzas, beginning: 'Its masts of might - its souls so free / Had borne the scatheless keel / Through many a day of darkened sea / And many a storm of steel.'
A single folio, showing traces of previous mounting in the corners. With a marginal gloss in pencil of the word 'prore' (prow), and annotated on the verso, also in pencil: 'Written by Mr. John Ruskin / Christ Church / Oxford.'
