Two detached album pages with printed and autograph material adhered and attached relating to the artist John Everett Millais.
(1). Two sepia photographs of Millais adhered (each 6 x 9 mm) together with a newspaper cutting announcing that Millais (and Edward William Cooke) have been elected Royal Academicians. Attached beneath are three autograph letters:
(a). 7 Cromwell Place, South Kensington. 7 March 1864. Millais to Mrs Ford: 'I am very sorry to say I cannot come to you this evening as I had hoped - all yesterday I was in my bed with influenza'.
(b). 83 Gower St [no date]. Millais to John Ruskin, about coming to stay with him. 'Next week I hope to design the frame for Mrs Ruskin; which must be for the Departing Visitor the next thing I intend painting. She must not be frightened at this as it will be small.'
(c). Perth, 18 June [no year]. Effie Millais to Mrs Ford, describing a journey to Perth and a house fire.
On the verso of the album page, a cutting from the Pall Mall Gazette of an obituary for the Very Rev. Dr Milman [Henry Hart Milman, 1791-1868].
(2). Various newspaper cuttings adhered (Millais presenting prizes at Sheffield School of Art; obituary for Millais; obituary for John Stuart Mill) together with an attached empty envelope bearing four ink sketches of the heads of three dogs and a horse. The envelope has been annotated in pencil: 'Johnnie Millais / age 13 / Dec 1878 / youngest son of Millais RA'.
