- Scope & Content:
- Four volumes of handwritten journals describing a tour of engineering works in North America by Henry Maurice Surtees Tuckwell from Jan-May 1917. Each volume contains a hand-written account of Tuckwell's trip supplemented by postcards, menus and newspaper cuttings pasted into each volume. Tuckwell seems to have visited the States in a professional capacity on behalf of Tata Steel to meet engineering colleagues and learn more about American technological advances, but he also describes visiting various clubs, restaurants and tourist attractions.
