- Title:
- [Signature of Shaykh Shibli]
- Scope & Content:
- A brief note in Arabic by Shaykh Shibli of the Druze, as well as his signature in Latin script, followed by an explanation of the text and its context. The Arabic text appears to read: يمكن بينى وبينك اعهد مثل براهيمThe English text below explains that this was written during an interview at al-Ashraf and that it is an instruction to be guarded in one's speech when in the presence of strangers. The text is signed J. S. (John Silk?) Buckingham and is dated 14 March 1826. A further note below clarifies that "Ibrahim" refers to Mr. Burckhardt (?). Beneath the note is a small piece of paper with J. S. Buckingham's signature. The verso of both pages is blank.
