Delhi Persian 971
Commentary on the Fusus al-hikam
Contents
Untitled rare Persian paraphrase and commentary by an unnamed author on the Fuṣūṣ al-ḥikam of Ibn ʿArabī (d. 638/1240). Grammatical glosses are included in margins. The work lacks any introduction and may indicate that this volume contains only a fragment of the original work. The title Sharḥ-i Fuṣūṣ al-ḥikam only appears in an endorsement at the beginning (f. 1r).
The author cites the Mujaddidī Naqshbandī saint, Shaykh Aḥmad Sirhindī (d. 1034/1625) as one of his authorities (f. 51r).
The volume is incomplete, covering only the introduction and first faṣṣ of the original work, breaking off abruptly in the section on the Prophet Nūḥ.
Not dated at end.
The text employs as its academic apparatus the signa mīm for matn and sīn for sharḥ in the form of the numeral for three.
Folios mostly unbound; heavy damage along the bottom edge from wormholes. Extensive notes at beginning (f. 1r) on the abjad values of some letters, names, and phrases.
Selected poems of Shaykh Abū al-Fayz̤ "Fayz̤ī" quoted from his Mavārid al-kilam at end (f. 90v).
