Rare early copy of the posthumous biographical account of the Ṣūfī, Ḥusām al-Dīn Aḥmad ibn Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī al-Ḥanafī al-Naqshbandī (d. 1043/1633-4), by ʿUbayd Allāh al-Zāhidī al-Aḥrārī.

The author began writing at speed a year and two months following the subject’s demise and completed the work in 1044/1634.

This copy contains signs of continued editing, deletion, and marginal additions, showing that the author may have used this copy to further refine his work.

Dated colophon (f. 249r): completed Wednesday, 1 Ramaz̤ān 1044/18 February 1635.

Folio 6 misplaced; lacunae after folio 14.

Front flap of the original reddish brown leather covers preserved with labels.

Rebound in IOL red half leather covers, stamped 27 Sep 1915.
