Having viewed the work Ḥadīqat al-aqālīm, Captain Jonathan Scott (spelled variously in text)—described as foremost in his knowledge of European history—was requested by the present writer to compile his recollections, from which appropriate excerpts (iqtibāsī-'i shāyistah) were selected and translated into Persian

The dates 1196/1782 are described as current (aknūn) at the time of writing
Concludes with a short account of the earliest English settlements at Surat under the Timurid or Mughal Emperor Jahangir
